About DelusionScale
DelusionScale started with a simple observation: everyone has dating standards, but almost nobody knows how rare their standards actually are. We built a free calculator that puts real numbers next to those standards, using public demographic data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the CDC.
Here is how it works. You pick the traits that matter to you in a partner: age range, height, income, education, and a few more. The calculator estimates what share of U.S. singles match all of them at once. The result is not a judgment about you or anyone else. It is a reality check, the kind that is hard to get from friends, dating apps, or gut feeling.
What the numbers mean, and what they do not
Every percentage on this site is an estimate, not an exact count. The calculator combines separate demographic shares, which assumes those traits are independent of each other. In real life, traits like income and education are correlated, so every result should be read as a rough illustration, not a precise headcount.
The numbers describe populations, never individuals. They say nothing about compatibility, character, kindness, or whether a relationship will work. Use the calculator as a thought experiment and a conversation starter, not as a verdict on anyone, including yourself.
An independent project
DelusionScale is a small independent project, not a company, not a media brand, and not affiliated with any podcast, dating service, or influencer. References to third parties on this site are for description and comparison only. We have no advertisers shaping our content and no premium tier to upsell you. The calculator is free and we intend to keep it that way.
